There appears to be bother in paradise. First, Ryan Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, didn’t present as much as the submit combat press convention earlier this spring after his fighter, Ryan Garcia, was knocked out by Gervonta Davis in one of the vital profitable occasions in modern boxing (De La Hoya stated he had been receiving demise threats). Now De Ha Hoya is claiming that former nice Manny Pacquiao, is the best choice for the favored Garcia to combat subsequent. Garcia, suffice to say, isn’t having it, going as far as to basically calling out De La Hoya on social media.
“This isn’t occurring!!,” Garcia posted over a Michael Benson tweet showcasing De La Hoya’s hope for a Pacquiao combat. “I stated what I needed… It’s irritating.. bored with this.” To make certain, Garcia lately posted what he needed: “3 folks I need to combat subsequent,” he had said on Tuesday. “Rollies *they simply ordered for him to combat somebody’s else. Isaac Cruz *if he’s keen to go to 140. Teofimo López *relying on consequence.” The identify Manny Pacquiao actually can’t be discovered on this record. Then once more, De La Hoya might not have been fully critical when he stated Pacquiao was the best choice for Garcia’s subsequent combat. Promoters, in spite of everything, are apt to say something to maintain the dialog on their fighter.
“I believe Manny Pacquiao is the largest combat that may be made,” De La Hoya informed Marcos Villegas. The long-lasting fighter turned excessive stage promoter additionally said that he may “see that combat occurring at 142, 143 perhaps.” Now that Garcia has made it clear he doesn’t see a combat with Pacquiao occurring in any respect within the close to future – whereas on the identical time making his unhappiness together with his promotional state of affairs public – it’s value questioning what could also be a results of latest rigidity between the fighter and his promoter.
The reality is that, although he was knocked out by Davis, Garcia is younger sufficient, standard sufficient, and gifted sufficient to nonetheless herald plenty of {dollars} and eyeballs. Meaning he has a big selection of opponents to select from. He subsequently, contractual issues apart, has or probably can have, a big selection of promoters to select from, as effectively…ought to he and De La Hoya endure a break. With that being stated, the 2 have had a profitable partnership up till this level. The Garcia-Davis combat was an unlimited occasion, in spite of everything, one thing made much more notable by the truth that no main titles had been at stake.
