ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The College of Chicago girls’s tennis staff started the College Athletic Affiliation (UAA) Championship weekend with a dominant 5-0 victory over College of Rochester.
The No. 1-ranked Maroons improved to 17-0 and superior to Friday’s UAA semifinals. The Yellowjackets fell to 6-10.
UChicago raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. Nicole Geller and Lauren Khou blanked their opponents at No. 3 by an 8-0 rating. The No. 1 tandem of Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo prevailed 8-2, whereas Claudia Ng and Perene Wang have been victorious 8-5 at No. 2.
Singles completed rapidly as UChicago secured the 2 wins wanted to finish the match early through choice. Geller shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Brooke Pedersen then concluded the motion with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4. The remaining 4 matches went unfinished with UChicago up a set on each courtroom.
