Neil Jones has mentioned that Liverpool could be taking a ‘gamble’ in the event that they have been to signal considered one of their most distinguished reported January switch targets.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a attainable transfer for Ousmane Diomande this month and are understood to be ‘protecting tabs’ on the Sporting CP defender (David Lynch).
The 20-year-old is rated so extremely in Portugal that one observer is quoted as saying that the Lisbon membership might ‘make a minimum of £100m’ from promoting him.
Nevertheless, talking to EOTK Insider, Jones define why he feels Liverpool could be rolling the cube in the event that they have been to signal the precocious centre-back.
The journalist acknowledged: “Ousmane Diomande has very minimal expertise with 28 video games within the league for Sporting – it’s a really small pattern dimension for a centre-back! Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip – even somebody like Ozan Kabak – all had much more after they signed.
“It will be a bet for Liverpool to go and spend cash on him. That mentioned, he does look, from the stories you learn and the trajectory of his profession, a probably intriguing possibility. Finally, although, it does come down as to whether it’s the best deal for Liverpool, whether or not he’s the best match and the age profile.”
Jones’ reservations a couple of big-money transfer for Diomande are comprehensible, with the journalist justifiably pointing to the 20-year-old’s inexperience at a excessive degree and probably cautious of the price that Sporting may demand with a purpose to promote him.
Nevertheless, we’ve seen lately that Liverpool are ready to spend huge on gamers if the Anfield powerbrokers are absolutely satisfied that such offers would have a transformative long-term impact on Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
The age of the Ivory Coast worldwide might entitle his present membership to carry out for a considerable switch supply, however that should be weighed up in opposition to the huge potential that he boasts and the potential of him repaying that outlay over a chronic interval.
Virgil van Dijk (£75m) and Alisson Becker (£67m) definitely didn’t come low-cost, however any debate about whether or not they’ve lived as much as their respective worth tags has lengthy since been dispelled.
Finally, it’ll come down as to whether Liverpool chiefs really feel that Diomande could be a game-changer in Klopp’s facet. If the reply is sure, don’t be stunned in the event that they push the boat out to get him someday this yr.
