When Mookie Betts first hit the injured listing final weekend with a cracked rib, there was no timetable for return. Earlier this week, it was prompt that Betts may very well be again in a few weeks. On Sunday, any hopes of Betts coming again any time have been dashed.
In line with Dodgers supervisor Dave Roberts, Betts’ rib harm hasn’t improved (quotes OCR’s Bill Plunkett).
“Mookie Betts was given permission to depart the workforce this weekend to attend a marriage. Will return to LA and never journey to Colorado for Dodgers sequence there. Injured rib is “the identical” per Dave Roberts. Not cleared to begin baseball actions any time quickly.”
In a subsequent tweet, Plunkett reported that Doc “acknowledged” that Betts returning in about two weeks is “not proving to be reasonable”.
That’s not precisely the information that Dodgers followers wished to listen to. Though Trayce Thompson has carried out admirably after being acquired by the Dodgers on June twentieth, changing a famous person is unimaginable.
Particularly a famous person who’s primarily batted leadoff.
Betts cooled off significantly in June, however within the month of Could, he was probably the greatest hitters in all baseball. Mookie slashed .342/.411/.746 and tallied 12 residence runs and 27 RBI.
Primarily based on Roberts’ feedback, it sounds just like the Dodgers are going to must get used to life with out Mookie Betts for the foreseeable future. In the intervening time, it looks like finest case state of affairs is Betts returning after the All-Star break.
