With one other commerce deadline within the books, this a lot is evident: the NBA is pure medicine. Of the infinite variety of methods issues might unfold in any explicit scenario, this can be a league that goes down essentially the most dramatic path potential each single time. That is precisely what we noticed when James Harden and Ben Simmons swapped groups regardless of in depth reporting suggesting a deal was unlikely to materialise.
And whereas the Harden-Simmons commerce was the headliner, there have been loads of offers made proper earlier than the deadline, and we’re right here to briefly recap every little thing that went down.
76ERS RECEIVE: James Harden, Paul Millsap
NETS RECEIVE: Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, two first-round picks (2022 protected, 2027 unprotected)
It feels unusual to write down one thing constructive about Ben Simmons, and it’s going to really feel equally unusual studying it, however he might properly turn out to be the most effective model of himself in Brooklyn. With Simmons surrounded by the Nets’ unimaginable assortment of dead-eye shooters, it’s exhausting to think about a greater scenario for him.

In the meantime in Philadelphia, the Harden-Embiid mixture may very well be spectacular, or it may very well be a messy match. Count on an adjustment part for Philly’s two superstars.
PACERS RECEIVE: Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Tristan Thompson
KINGS RECEIVE: Domantas Sabonis, Justin Vacation, Jeremy Lamb, lifetime of distress
And the Kings surprise why they haven’t made the playoffs since George W. Bush was president…
PELICANS RECEIVE: CJ McCollum, Larry Nance Jr, Tony Snell
BLAZERS RECEIVE: Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker (flipped to Jazz), Tomas Satoransky (flipped to Spurs), Didi Louzada, first-round choose, two second-round picks
There are some who stay skeptical about this deal for New Orleans resulting from CJ McCollum being 30 years outdated with $100 million owed to him over three years. However the Pelicans bought him for spare change and this isn’t a group that can ever appeal to big-name free brokers. If the Blazers need to give McCollum away for nothing, New Orleans can be loopy to say no.
WIZARDS RECEIVE: Kristaps Porzingis
MAVERICKS RECEIVE: Spencer Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans
It’s exhausting to make any sense of Dallas’ Dinwiddie acquisition, not solely fit-wise, however as a result of he’s removed from the participant he was earlier than his ACL harm.
CAVALIERS RECEIVE: Caris LeVert, second spherical choose
PACERS RECEIVE: Ricky Rubio, lottery-protected first-round choose, two second spherical picks
The addition of Caris LeVert bolsters Cleveland’s lineup in principle and definitely has them trying nice on paper. However the Cavs had such a great factor going, and with the ball usually sticking in LeVert’s palms, don’t be so positive he’ll make all of them that a lot better.
PISTONS RECEIVE: Marvin Bagley
BUCKS RECEIVE: Serge Ibaka, two future second-round picks
KINGS RECEIVE: Donte DiVincenzo, Trey Lyles, Josh Jackson
CLIPPERS RECEIVE: Rodney Hood, Semi Ojele
Marvin Bagley can lastly get on along with his life (and so can his dad, who has been often Lavar Ball-ing the Kings). your scenario is dire if you really feel a brand new lease on life transferring to Detroit.
JAZZ RECEIVE: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Juancho Hernangomez
BLAZERS RECEIVE: Joe Ingles, Elijah Hughes, second-round choose
SPURS RECEIVE: Tomas Satoransky, second-round choose
As if tearing his ACL wasn’t dangerous sufficient for Joe Ingles, Utah has now despatched him to the freshly obliterated basketball wasteland that’s Portland. How’s that for including insult to literal harm?
BLAZERS RECEIVE: Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson, second-round choose
CLIPPERS RECEIVE: Norman Powell, Robert Covington.
The Blazers needed to get out of Regular Powell’s contract, however making this transfer six days earlier than the deadline as a substitute of holding out for a greater deal was attention-grabbing resolution making to say the least.
