Longtime UFC welterweight veteran Geoff Neal (15-4) is someplace within the +350 vary after opening because the betting underdog towards undefeated 170-pound phenom Shavkat Rakhmonov (16-0) forward of their UFC Vegas 67 clash on Jan. 14 at APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That’s unhealthy information for all of the thirsty bettors trying to parlay “Nomad.”
“He has fairly good putting, first rate putting and he has nice cardio and he’s continually placing stress attempting to search for the end,” Neal instructed James Lynch. “Stylistically, I really feel like I’m on the lookout for the identical factor. Granted, I’m not attempting to seize you and maintain you and put you on the bottom and stuff like that, I simply really feel like I’m quicker and stronger and that’s going to return into play throughout the struggle. I’m a what, plus-350? I don’t give a rattling about betting odds, I’m gonna mess up any individual’s parlays. However it’s what it’s, I ain’t frightened about it. On the finish of the day when the (expletive) cage door closes, the betting odds imply nothing. It’s both gonna be a three-round battle or I’m gonna get the end within the first or second.”
His final end got here with a $50,000 performance bonus.
Their three-round battle is more likely to decide the trajectory of the 28 year-old Rakhmonov, who like Khamzat Chimaev before him, is being hailed as the way forward for the welterweight division. That stated, it’s unlikely a battle-tested gamer like Neal, 32, will follow the script on struggle night time.
