Djokovic falls to Vesely in Dubai, Medvedev to become world No. 1 on Monday

In a battle between Novak Djokovic on the Dubai Obligation Free Tennis Championships and Daniil Medvedev on the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Djokovic needed to end with a greater consequence than Medvedev in an effort to preserve the highest spot. That new man within the No. 1 spot is Medvedev, who has averted the chaos that has reigned in Acapulco. The 24-year-old sauntered into the quarterfinals on Wednesday by crushing Pablo Andujar 6-1, 6-2. He preceded that consequence with a straight-set defeat of Benoit Paire.

“I’m fortunate two days in a row to not play at midnight like another guys,” the Australian Open runner-up famous. “It’s fairly powerful situations, fairly humid.
